The Afra portulacaria is often confused with the crassula ovata (Jade tree), because they look very similar. However, portulacaria has smaller, thinner leaves. Its stem is reddish brown, it supports pruning well and branches, which makes it a good bonsai. The Elephant Bush likes to be placed directly in the sun, and you can wait for it to dry completely before watering it abundantly. It can grow up to 1.2m indoors. It produces small, pale pink flowers in clusters. However, it rarely flowers under our conditions, and the best way to make it flower is to neglect it a little. It flowers during periods of heat and drought. It is therefore necessary to recreate its conditions.
