Characteristics

  • Foliage : Deciduous, lanceolate, and finely toothed leaves of a glossy dark green, forming a dense carpet of greenery that makes the brightness of the flowers pop.
  • Flowering / Fruiting / Stems : Flowers in luminous sulphur-yellow heads carried by short, sturdy, and well-branched floral stems that require no staking.
  • Light Requirements : Requires full sun exposure to offer maximum flower abundance and maintain its compact habit.
  • Habit : Rounded, compact, and very well branched.
  • Growth : Medium growth rate, quickly forming a dense and vigorous clump.
  • Soil : Flourishes in rich, moist, and loose soil, but absolutely demands excellent drainage, especially during the cold season.
  • Temperature : Hardy to zone 5.
  • Resistances : Offers excellent resistance to fungal foliage diseases as well as to White-tailed deer.

Use

  • Types of use : Integrate this variety at the front of borders, along flower beds, or grow it in containers to brighten up your patios and balconies.
  • Decorative advantages : Creates powerful chromatic contrasts with blue or purple perennials and provides excellent, long-lasting cut flowers for your bouquets.

Maintenance

  • Watering : Provide regular watering during the first year of establishment. Subsequently, maintain moderately moist soil but let the surface dry out between waterings to prevent excess moisture.
  • Fertilization : Incorporate a good amount of compost at planting. Apply a natural granular fertilizer for flowering plants in early spring to sustain the production of new buds.
  • Taille : Regularly remove faded flowers to stimulate new waves of buds throughout the season. Cut the plant back close to the ground in autumn or early spring.
  • Plantation : Space plants 35 to 45 cm apart in soil previously enriched with organic matter, preferably in spring.
  • Winter protection : Install a mulch of dead leaves or straw in autumn to protect the crown from winter temperature fluctuations, while ensuring you avoid stagnant water accumulations.
