Hoyas are climbing plants that are very resistant to various growing conditions and easy to maintain. They like bright light, but avoid direct sun, which could burn the leaves. Drought tolerant, they do not like excess water. So water them when the soil is dry to the touch, the first 2 inches before watering. With optimal growing conditions, they produce clusters of very fragrant star-shaped flowers. The Hoya Pubicalyx is very pretty with its long fleshy, elliptical leaves with a silvery sheen. It produces long stems that easily cling to a trellis or stake, thus being able to cover entire walls in an apartment. It is often grown hanging, creating a magnificent effect.
