• Flowering / Fruit / Canes : Small, fragrant white flowers in June. Produces large, fleshy, oval fruit with green, smooth, and entirely edible skin. The flesh is juicy, very sweet, and aromatic.
• Pollination : Female variety. Requires a male plant of the same species nearby, such as Actinidia arguta 'Meader', to ensure pollination and fruit set. One single male plant can pollinate up to 5 to 7 female plants within a range of 15 to 20 metres.
• Light : Full sun required to maximize sugar development in the fruit and ensure uniform ripening. Tolerates light partial shade.
• Habit : Climbing and scrambling, requiring a solid, heavy-duty support such as a pergola, a sturdy fence, or a heavy wooden trellis to hold its twining canes.
• Growth : Very fast, developing long, sturdy canes. The first significant harvest typically occurs 3 to 4 years after planting.
• Soil : Thrives in organic-rich, loose, moist, and impeccably drained soil. Dislikes standing water, which causes root rot.
• Temperature : Highly hardy (Zone 4), tolerating cold winters very well. However, its young spring shoots and flower buds in May are sensitive to late frosts.
