Tomatillo originally from Mexico. A distant cousin of the tomato, the tomatillo is the essential ingredient in the preparation of salsa but can also be used in other culinary preparations such as soup. The greenish to purple fruit is coated in a green, paper-like covering formed from the calyx which turns brown when ripe. When the fruit ripens, it fills the husk. The plant measures 1.50 to 2 meters in height, be sure to give it space in the garden. Maturity: 75 to 90 days.
