This majestic plant prefers the brightest location in the house, ideally in the sun, in a south or west facing window. In summer, it benefits from being placed outside, after a period of acclimatization to the sun. Water it when the soil is half dry, avoiding any excess water in the saucer. In winter, you can let it dry out more. To encourage flowering, maintain a night temperature between 13 and 16 degrees during winter. Growth of bird of paradise is slow, especially in young plants which can take up to 7 years to flower. The large, medium green leaves of this plant are imposing, oblong, lanceolate and leathery. The flowers are beautiful and unique.
