Growing Information

Sansevieria is a very hardy and easy-to-care-for succulent houseplant. It can tolerate a wide range of light and watering conditions. It is perfect for people who travel frequently or who forget to water their plants.

Light: Place your Sansevieria in a bright location with indirect bright light. It can also tolerate some shade, but it will not grow as quickly. Avoid placing your plant in direct sunlight, as this can burn its leaves.

Watering: Water your Sansevieria only when the soil is completely dry. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Overwatering is the leading cause of death for Sansevieria.

Humidity: Sansevieria prefers low humidity. It does not need to be misted.

Potting: Repot your Sansevieria every two to three years, or when its roots begin to emerge from the drainage holes of the pot. Use a well-draining potting mix.

Fertilizer: Fertilize your Sansevieria every two months during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength.

Tips

  • Sansevieria leaves can be wiped clean with a damp cloth to keep them clean.
  • If you notice brown spots on the leaves of your Sansevieria, it may be a sign of overwatering. Reduce the frequency of your watering.
  • If the leaves of your Sansevieria are turning yellow, it may be a sign of lack of light. Place your plant in a brighter location.
