Sarracenia are carnivorous plants that are easy to grow. The leaves, shaped like a horn called "ascidia" or urn, are erect. They attract insects inside with the scent they give off and the variety of colors. Once inside, the insects are trapped and cannot get out. The front of the leaf has a limb called a "wing". They are green, veined, spotted with white, dark red tending to purple, or yellow depending on the variety and species.
