The Oso Easy Peasy® rose lives up to its name: it produces flowers with effortless ease. This shrub has already won a prestigious Award of Excellence from the American Rose Society for its exceptional performance without any fungicide treatments. It combines obvious beauty with an ease of care that frees up time to simply enjoy the show.

Characteristics

  • Foliage: The plant develops glossy, apple-green deciduous foliage. This healthy foliage demonstrates excellent resistance to common rose diseases like powdery mildew and black spot.
  • Flowering: From summer until the first frosts, this rose produces a profusion of flowers. Clusters of single, bright magenta-pink flowers appear continuously without any interruption. It blooms on new wood.
  • Light: It requires a full sun exposure to perform its best, meaning a minimum of 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  • Habit: It forms a dense shrub with a compact, mounded habit.
  • Growth: With a medium growth rate, it reaches a height and spread of 76 cm to 1.1 m (30-42 inches).
  • Moisture: It prefers average moisture conditions.
  • Soil: It adapts well to average garden soil and even tolerates less-rich soils once established.
  • Hardiness: Very hardy, it faces Zone 4 winters without any problem.
  • Watering: It requires average watering. It is best to water the soil directly and avoid wetting the foliage to maintain optimal health.
  • Resistance: It possesses very high resistance to fungal diseases, especially powdery mildew and black spot.

Uses

  • Types of Use: Its versatility allows it to shine as a specimen, in mass plantings for maximum impact, as a low colourful hedge, or integrated into a perennial and shrub border. It also performs very well in containers.
  • Ornamental Features: It ensures a constant and reliable display of colour throughout the season. Its bright pink flowers catch the eye and animate the garden from summer to fall.

Care

  • Fertilizing: Apply a rose fertilizer in the spring to support its generous growth and flowering.
  • Pruning: Maintenance is remarkably simple. It requires no deadheading to keep blooming. In early spring, simply prune the entire shrub back by about half to one-third of its height, just above a large, healthy bud.
  • Planting: Choose a very sunny location with good air circulation to maximize its natural disease resistance.
