Nicknamed the "silver dollar" by florists, Eucalyptus pulverulenta 'Baby Blue' is a particularly attractive variety! This small shrub with a compact pyramidal habit is distinguished by its rounded foliage, almost perfectly opposite on the stems, and covered with a magnificent silvery-white bloom. Considered one of the most fragrant Eucalyptuses, its powerful scent is released with the slightest touch. A marvel for the senses and for floral arrangements!

Key features

  • Iconic foliage: small, round, silvery-blue leaves, like coins.
  • Powerful fragrance: one of the most fragrant Eucalyptuses, ideal for perfuming a room or a bouquet.
  • Compact habit: pyramidal shape, smaller size, well-suited for pot culture.
  • Ideal for bouquets: magnificent and long-lasting in fresh or dried arrangements.
  • Growing in Quebec: must be grown as an annual or in a pot to bring indoors for winter, as it is not hardy in our climate.

Growing tips

  • Exposure: loves full sun (minimum 6 hours per day).
  • Soil: requires very well-drained soil. Use a good quality potting mix for houseplants or containers.
  • Watering: water when the soil surface is dry. Tolerates slight underwatering better than overwatering.
  • Pot culture: highly recommended to easily bring it indoors before the first frosts.
  • Overwintering: place in a very bright and cool room (ideally between 5°C and 15°C) during winter, reducing watering.

Important

  • Not hardy in Quebec: this plant does not survive Quebec winters outdoors. It must absolutely be brought indoors or treated as an annual.
  • Non-edible: like most ornamental eucalyptuses, it is not intended for consumption.
